Teacher training where you belong
Your experiences matter. Your identity is valued.
We believe the teaching profession should reflect the communities it serves. Whether you are finishing your degree, working in a school or changing careers, your background and experiences can enrich the teacher you become.
At SCITTELS, inclusion shapes how we recruit, train, mentor and support you. We want you to feel respected, heard and able to contribute, while developing the knowledge and confidence to help every child belong.
Graded Exceptional for Inclusion by Ofsted in 2026
This recognition reflects a longstanding commitment to inclusion at SCITTELS. For you, that means training where individual needs are taken seriously and inclusive teaching is explored throughout the programme.

From your first enquiry, we want to understand the experiences, perspectives and strengths you would bring to teaching. Our recruitment process gives you opportunities to reflect on inclusion and the teacher you hope to become.
If you need an adjustment to access the application or interview process, please speak to us so that we can discuss appropriate support.
Learn to include every child
You will learn to recognise barriers to learning, adapt your teaching and maintain high expectations for every pupil. Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), language development and children's wider experiences are considered throughout your training.
During each Intensive Training and Practice experience, you will visit specialist provision. These visits help you connect what you learn about pupils' needs with practical approaches you can use in your own classroom.
Put anti-racism into practice
We support you to examine assumptions, recognise discrimination and consider whose voices and experiences are represented in the classroom.
Through your choice of books, resources, examples and learning experiences, you will explore how children can see themselves represented, learn about others and develop the confidence to challenge prejudice.
Be supported as an individual
Your school-based mentor and SCITTELS Lead Mentor help you build on your strengths and identify your next steps. We recognise that trainees bring different experiences and support needs.
Speak to us about disability, health or other support needs so that we can consider appropriate reasonable adjustments and work with you to address barriers.
Value the communities you teach
Our partnership schools serve diverse communities across East and South East London. You will learn to recognise the languages, cultures, relationships and experiences that children bring to school, and consider how these can enrich learning.
We want you to leave SCITTELS ready to create a classroom where children feel known, respected and able to participate, with the support and challenge they need to make progress.
