Up to date teaching expertise

As part of school based and centre based training elements of the programme, practising teachers are able to share with trainees the very real demands, challenges and joys of primary teaching today. Many of our teachers are familiar with and involved in current action research and are often to be found in the classroom one day and teaching on the programme the next. In addition, we invite local authority and independent consultants as well as social workers, nurses, parents and the children themselves to contribute to training.

Small is beautiful

We have 38 PGCE and 16 GTP places, which is far fewer than most universities and colleges. For this reason, we are considered to be a small and intimate provider. SCITTELS staff members are very accessible to trainees and therefore, trainees feel well supported and listened to.
